Several winters ago, I was traveling in Ireland with one of my daughters. When we were on the Aran Islands, off of Galway, I noticed all these bird nests-they were everywhere, in trees, against old walls and on rock fences. I found out that they were rook nests. Rooks are similar to our crow family-with one big difference…they will build a nest out in the open whereas our ravens and crows build their nests so that they are hidden from human eyes.
I found this old children’s chair and I figured that a rook would probably build a nest in it, if given a chance.
